Ethereum's recent TD Sequential sell signal on its weekly chart has sparked concern among investors, echoing a pattern that preceded a significant 63% drop. This technical analysis tool, known for spotting trend reversals, has flashed a sell signal, indicating a potential shift in Ethereum's bullish trend. The setup phase, which involves counting nine consecutive green candles, has been completed, suggesting a possible exhaustion of the current upward momentum. The reliability of this indicator is notable, as it accurately predicted major price surges and a drawdown in the past year. In April and June, buy signals led to price surges of 86% and 134%, respectively, while the August sell signal resulted in a 63% drawdown. The current signal, according to analyst Ali Martinez, suggests Ethereum is entering a corrective phase. Martinez has set three targets for ETH: $1,900 in the short-term, $1,595 in the mid-term, and $1,090 in the long-term, with the latter being significant as it aligns with the bottom of a long-term Parallel Channel. This channel, a technical pattern formed by two parallel trendlines, acts as a support and resistance level. Ethereum's current price of around $2,220 places it in the lower half of this channel, and Martinez suggests that $1,071, at the channel's bottom, could be a strong buying area.
